This little guy is Joey. I got to know him and his siblings and parents while working at a daycare a few years ago. He and his brother made quite an impression on all of us workers. His first words to me were “Are you single?” followed by him asking me out on a ‘date’ to his house to eat spaghetti and watch scooby doo.

Joey has type 1 diabetes. His family is very active in finding cure events and raising awareness, but now they’re looking for a little help.

Joey’s family is trying to work towards raising enough money for him to receive a Diabetic Alert Service Dog, which will alert his family to dangerous drops or rises in his blood sugar, without the constant stabbing, and throughout the night while he and his family sleep, and can wake him and his parents, retrieve his meter and a juice box, and also has a special device in which to call 911. This dog will help both he and his family a LOT.

For those in the NEPA area, there is a spaghetti and meatball dinner being held to raise money.

If you would like to help but don’t live in the area, there is also a donation page set up. I’m not pressuring or expecting everyone to donate, but this little boy, along with his siblings, have absolutely won my heart over, and I don’t want to sit by without trying to help. I’ve seen tumblr do some amazing things, so please at least try to reblog if you can to get the word out.
